It’s not secret. Anybody who has come to Argentina or is planning a trip over here knows it: Argentina has a lot to offer. Vibrant cities, beautiful mountains, mightiest falls, wildlife, nightlife, great wine and food culture, beaches… a tourism paradise. And a nightmare when it comes to planning when you have only few weeks in your hand.
This country is a giant! Second largest country in South America after Brazil. More than 3,500 kms from north to south and nearly 1,500 kms from east to west. Also going up to nearly 7,000 kms above sea level, Argentina has everything to give you a vertical and horizontal vertigo.
Any adventures here would require a fair bit of planning and would surely include traveling quite a few kilometers. 2 good things though! One: it’s pretty easy, secure and affordable to travel within the country. Affordable flight tickets would cover the entire country from Iguazu Falls to Ushuia. And for those who are not afraid of road kilometers, buses are like plane on roads. Not that they are going that fast (luckily!) but you would often have the same service at your seat with even better comfort. Lots of travelers choose to travel by night, opting for a cama (bed) seat. You go to bed in Buenos Aires and wake up at your destination, almost without feeling that you’ve traveled hundreds of kilometers.
The second good thing is that there is no shortage of activities of any kind. Close your eyes and think about something you would like to see or do when traveling… done? Well, there is high chance you can do it in Argentina.
- Traditional activities: experience gaucho life in the Pampa, learn to dance tango in one of the numerous Buenos Aires Milongas or live football fever at La Bombanera.
- Scenery and wildlife: go from the one the highest mountains in the world at the Andes to where the world seems to end at Tierra del Fuego. Dive with seal lions at Puerto Madryn, spot the jaguar at Iguazu or the whales at Peninsula Valdes (you will have a way more chance with the second one!).
- Enjoy the Argentine great food and wine culture: eat the most famous meat in the world in the most convivial way during an Asado. Visit the highest vineyards in the world. Taste Bonarda, the secret grape of Argentina, Torrontes, the lying grape or simply the most famous grape of Argentina, Malbec.
- For the more extreme adventurers: ski The Andes, surf at Mar del Plata, skydive, mountain bike, hike or live Buenos Aires nightlife like there was not tomorrow (Yes, I’ve classified it as an extreme activity. Try it, you will get why!).
Just name it, Argentina has it! With knowledgeable travel guides specialized in any kind of activities from adventure tours to gastronomic discovery one, there is an activity for all and a access to it.
